Celebrating the Life and Music of Joe Strummer
Schedule of activities:
6:00pm — Welcome to the public! Be sure to bring an appetite and some extra cash…our host Marty (Chiques Rock Outfitters) and his team will be making gourmet brick-oven pizzas to order, as well as having freshly-pulled pork sandwiches with all the fixins available for sale! BYOB (21+ only) and bring a lawn chair / blanket!
7:00pm to 9:00pm (or so) — Strummer/Clash/Mescaleros tribute jam…our fantastic core band, Chad Kinsey (guitar), Mike Giblin (bass), and Paul Murr (drums), will kick off the show, but will be joined at various times by Mark Burke, Brian Kelm, Matt Underhill, Chris Lausch, and John Flavin…we guarantee you will love this set!
9:00pm to ??? — we light up the bonfire and get to talkin’, sharin’, debatin’, solvin’ problems, etc…we will also be screening the Julien Temple documentary of JS’s life and legacy, “The Future Is Unwritten”
STRUMMERJAM is an ambitious fundraising event being organised by The Joe Strummer Foundation. It’s a month long event running from 1st – 31st August 2016 (Joe’s birthday month).
The objective is to keep Joe Strummer’s flame burning bright, promote local music scenes to a global audience, create sense of community and raise funds for non-profits.
Musicians, venues, promoters and fans of music in local scenes around the world will organise a StrummerJam event, submit the event proposals via this website & nominate a local music non-profit or they can nominate The Joe Strummer Foundation.
Here Are The Charitable Objectives of StrummerJam:
Provide awareness and support for local non-profits so that they can continue to do more fantastic work
Unite musicians, venues, event promoters and fans to work together to achieve a common good
Promote local music scenes at grassroots level to a global wide audience
Keep Joe’s flame burning bright in the minds of new and older generations
