Well, what can we say?! StrummerJam 2016 was the first year and what a great way to start! The response to StrummerJam has blown us all away, and the sheer passion and commitment to putting on a gig in honour of Joe Strummer and to raise funds for music profits have been truly inspiring.
There over 172 bands, in 22 cities in 10 countries across the 3 continents who all collectively managed to raise just under $10,000 USD as part of StrummerJam 2016!
Just over $5,000 has gone towards helping non-profits like Radio Lolipop, Willie May Rock Camp for Girls, Variety Children’s Charity, Notes for Notes and Glastonbury Radio. The remainder has been donated to The Joe Strummer Foundation to which we are all truly thankful for!
We set out with an idea for StrummerJam, that would unite fans of Joe Strummer around the world to come together for one month and put on independent gigs, celebrate the music of Joe (nice and loud), have fun and help to raise funds for non-profit organisations that use music to help change the world.
We have all started something now!
Can not wait to see what 2017 brings us.
Until then, thank you.
